Wife convicted in Army NCO’s killing

The wife of an Army NCO has been convicted of killing him inside their home in Laurel.

An Army wife has been charged with killing her husband after his body was found inside their Laurel home Friday morning.

A judge on Wednesday found Marquita Sutton guilty of second-degree murder for killing Army SFC Johnnie Sutton III.

img-Woman-charged-in-stabbing-death-of-Army-husbandMarquita Sutton claimed that she stabbed her husband in self-defense because he had sexually assaulted her, but prosecutors said she learned her husband was seeing another woman and talked regularly about wanting a divorce leading up to the killing.

Police said the SFC Sutton, who was stationed at Fort Meade, had 121 wounds when he was found in December 2013.

Sutton faces up to 30 years in prison when she is sentenced next month.
