SECARMY Nominee’s Holdings Present Conflicts of Interest

The billionaire Wall Street trader nominated as the next secretary of the Army is another Trump nominee trying to make his way through the confirmation process – but published reports are indicating that will not be an easy thing to do.

According to the New York Times,Vincent “Vinnie” Viola, also the owner of the Florida Panthers hockey team, is seeking a trade of one of his holdings, Eastern Airlines, for a smaller stake in another airline in order to lighten his burden of conflicts heading into Senate confirmation.

Unfortunately, the other holding, Swift Airlines, is heavily involved in government contracts, which will complicate an already cloudy ethical outlook for Viola, a West Point graduate and former major in the Army.
