PORTSMOUTH,Va. 22 year-old HM3 Matthew Schulten is recovering in the hospital after being shot Monday yesterday night while subduing a would-be robber at his local watering hole.
Schulten was hit in the torso at close range but continued to fight the shooter until his barracks roommate returned from the latrine and they were able to subdue him.
Police say the 15-year-old has been charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and aggravated malicious wounding.
Schulten is assigned to the Naval Medical Center at Portsmouth, Virginia, and is expected to make a full recovery.
He has a twin brother in the USMC and two in the US Army, all of whom will have to suffer through a lifetime of being unable to top his badass story at future Thanksgiving Dinners as a family. The US Air Force was unavailable for comment.
