London once again is in the center of yet another terror attack. It was a little past midnight local time when a white box truck plowed into a crowd of pedestrians most of them worshipers leaving a pair of north London mosques early Monday following prayer service.

“This is being treated as a terrorist attack,” said Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu told reporters. He added that the driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Several eyewitnesses reported that the driver that is described as a white male 48, was in a state of amok shouting “I want to kill Muslims” as he was tackled to the ground by other pedestrians trying to escape the scene.

Abdulrahman Aidroos was trying to assist an elderly worshiper that had collapsed on the sidewalk from a heart attack when he saw the white truck driving straight into the crowd.

The elderly man was part of the Pedestrians hit by the van and later died at the scene probably from injuries received during the attack, 10 more people were injured, two of them serious.

The suspected terrorist following the attack tried to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended by bystanders that pinned him down for 20 minutes until police arrived.

“He jumped out of the truck taking wild swings left and right” said Aidroos “When I pinned him down I asked him why he did it and he replied that he just wanted to kill more Muslims”. Police commended the bystanders for their bravery and restraint.

This is the 3rd terror attack taking place in the UK inside 2017 and the second that uses a vehicle as a weapon.

UK’s terror alert status remains on “High” which means an attack is very likely.
