Soldier Arrested after Shooting Spree Following Drunken Orgy

The owner of the house that the party was taking place Saturday on Fort Bliss housing is seen here wearing handcuffs.

FORT BLISS, Texas — A soldier was arrested and more than 21 underage soldiers and civilians were apprehended for questioning by Military Police and Criminal Investigative Command investigators following a shooting incident on the off-post area of lower Logan Heights on Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, at approximately 2:45 a.m. Saturday the soldier seen handcuffed in this picture walked outside a residence on Hero avenue where a party was ongoing. Subsequent to an argument he had inside the residence he then proceeded to discharge his pistol about 20 times.

MP units were immediately dispatched to the area and arrived in minutes, then apprehended the soldier with the pistol still in his hand. After quickly canvassing the area they discovered the party house and detained approximately 21  soldiers and civilians for underage drinking and questioning, interrupting their attempts to disperse and avoid detainment.

During the initial line of questioning it was discovered that there was some sort of multiple-partner sexual encounter going on in the house that triggered this entire incident. This caused the soldier in question to feel offended for unknown reasons, while highly intoxicated from drinking, so he stepped outside and argued with other participants.

Following the altercation and a shouting match, audibly noticeable from other residences in the area, he proceeded to fire more than 20 rounds in what sounded like “exaggerated controlled bursts” with a semiautomatic pistol.

The Fort Bliss Public Affairs office issued the following statement:

“At approximately 2:45 a.m. on July 1, the Fort Bliss Military Police were notified of an alleged discharge of a weapon at a party in Army housing. It was alleged that a fight broke out and shots fired at a party where alcohol was being served,” according to Guy Volb, garrison Public Affairs director. “As Military Police were arriving, numerous people attending the party dispersed.” According to Volb, as a result of military police engaging, several personnel were taken into custody. “While we can confirm that shots were fired, there were no injuries,” said Volb. Army CIC and the FBI are investigating the incident.
