Alamogordo, NM- According to 12th Judicial District Court records obtained by USAWTFM a 48-year-old Lt. Col. stationed at Holloman Air Force base, serving as the 49th Medical Support Squadron Commander, was arrested Friday for being in possession of sexually suggestive photographs of a child.

Keith Vollenweider was charged with one count of third-degree felony distribution of sexual exploitation of children under the age of 13, and one count of special fourth-degree felony possession of sexual exploitation of children under the age of 13, according to court records.

Holloman Air Force Base 49th Wing Public Affairs office, issued a press release announcing that Vollenweider has been relieved of his command as the 49th Medical Support Squadron Commander pending the outcome of the criminal investigation ordered by the 12th judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The press release also noted that “the Air Force takes all criminal allegations seriously and will continue to work with local law enforcement authorities”.

According to sources within the Air Force Office of Special Investigation (OSI), Alamogordo Police Department (APD) detectives, assisted by OSI agents, executed a search warrant in Vollenweider’s residence at the 400 block of Simon Simon circle.

During the raid, they seized more than 600 files from his laptop containing child pornographic material, including pictures and videos of young girls ranging from 5 to 16 years old.

According to the APD and the New Mexico Attorney General’s office, the warrant was issued as a result of an ongoing investigation of Vollenweider, as his IP address was tied to child pornography websites. The 12th Judicial District Attorney John P. Sugg has filed a motion for pretrial detention.

In the meanwhile Vollenweider is currently jailed at the Otero County Detention Center on a no bond hold pending his court appearance.
